Look all around; there’s nothing but blue sky

Yes, I’m home. Been home awhile, actually. The car passed inspection, the tires were rotated, vital fluids changed out and/or renewed, and the windshield wipers changed.

I am in receipt of the happy news that I will need to replace the tires “before winter.” When I pointed out that we are presently standing right in the middle of “before winter,” the recommendation was adjusted to “around Thanksgiving.” It being a Subaru, that’s all four tires, which, to be fair, are the originals, and while they haven’t been subjected to as much as previous sets of tires on previous Subarus, they’ve done some miles.

So, something to look forward to.

I did manage to remember to go to City Hall and pay the excise tax/get new stickers for the license plates, which I affixed upon my arrival at home.

My entire day is off-time. I’m taking a short break from the WIP, but will be going back to it as soon as I finish this letter to the internets.

I have, sadly, given up on the book club book. Helen is going to get the bejesus beat out of her if she doesn’t get the hell outta there (this is where I folded; too much like how I grew up), Bob is going to throw himself from a tall building as soon as he gets back to The City, and Susan can go drown herself for all of me.

I started one of the cozies I downloaded a couple weeks ago, but it’s a little too cozy, if you take me. Also? Murders have consequences and scattering them through the plot like raisins into oatmeal cookies is . . . an interesting approach.

All of which to say that I’m currently re-reading Pratchett’s The Thief of Time. (SEE ME.  ??  GRANDAD)

(Some) People are asking if I’m going to adopt another (Maine Coon) cat, and — We’re still in shock here, ‘k? Not to mention mourning. If I have to Say Something, then what I say is I’m minded to let the Cat Distribution System do its work.

Speaking of cats — Apparently Firefly and Rookie read my blog. Firefly was actually waiting for me when I went to bed last night, and Rook joined us before I got properly settled. She tucked up on my ankles, and he kind of sprawled across my hips, and we all zoned out. Rook was still — or again — with me when the alarm went off, but Firefly had gone someplace else.

And that? Is all the news.

How’s Monday treating you?

Today’s blog post title is brought to you by Johnny Nash, “I Can See Clearly“
