In which the glamorous life of an author is…yeah

So!  This morning, I pulled some — most, actually — of the weeds under the deck, and threw some of the pine shavings that the snow had pushed down to, under, and around the propane tank up where they belong.  Tomorrow will see more of the same, since the Deal is that I will do this for no more than 15 minutes at a time, so as not to Thoroughly Bork my hands.

Also this morning, I paid bills, and wrote the checks for the quarterly taxes, which was…enlightening, and did the accounting for Patreon and Paypal, including writing checks for the taxes on same.

In a few minutes, I’ll set about starting to get Shan and Priscilla Ride Again, Chapter 8, in shape to be seen on the web.

Around all that is the on-going doing of the laundry, which is being shared out between us, using the Proximity Method.  Trooper has declared a Vendetta of Honor with the adding machine, which has offendeth him by monopolizing my time.  The adding machine seems pretty cool with this, so maybe it’s just a Formal Thing, and doesn’t actually involve any Duels to the Pain.

I really should vacuum — maybe tomorrow — and do the dishes — ditto.  Surely, we haven’t been home long enough to have generated dirty dishes.  I again suspect the cats of having friends in while we’re asleep.

In other news, four romance books arrived at the Cat Farm while we were gone, from far-flung vendors of used volumes.  Perhaps after I’ve finished with Shan and Priscilla, I’ll retire to the couch and finish up with The Martian, so I can clean my palate with a romance.

Just a reminder, since this was a frequent question on the tour:  To the best of our knowledge, Alliance of Equals has not yet been scheduled for publication.  Authors don’t schedule books, publishers schedule books.  At some point, someone from the publisher will inform us of the publication date, and then we’ll let y’all know.

The next Liaden Universe® novel (aka Third of Five), which at the moment labors under the working title, The Gathering Edge, is due on Madame the Publisher’s desk on February 15, 2016, rescheduled from November 15, 2015.  As of this writing, its publication date is a Mystery.

We do know the publication date of Liaden Universe® Constellation, Volume 3 — August 4, 2015 (hey, that’s only 7 weeks from now!).  And! if you want a signed and/or personalized copy of that volume, you need to act fast and pre-order from Uncle Hugo’s.  Here’s your link to the pre-order page, instructions, and! the table of contents.

. . .I think that’s all I got.  Being home continues to be a Very Good Thing.

Even with having to do the laundry.

Getting ready to leave town

So, last night, Steve and I turned Alliance of Equals, the 19th novel in the Liaden Universe®, in to Madame the Editor at Baen.

This morning, we posted the seventh chapter of Shan and Priscilla Ride Again.  Here’s your link.

Tomorrow, we’re getting on the Downeaster at Oh Ghod O’Clock, heading for Boston and the first stop on the Lightning Northeast Book Tour in Support of Dragon in Exile.

Today, we still need to do an InfoDump, pack, hand off the keys to the house-sitter — and I need to clean off my desk.

Why do I need to clean off my desk, you ask?

This is why:

Creativity is messy

Also?  the milk crate in the bottom right of the picture is full of Alliance-related papers, too.

So!  What’re you doing today that’s fun?

EDITED TO ADD:

OK; that's better

In which Rolanni sums up

Oh, let’s see. . .

On Friday, Steve took his car, Argent, the 2002 silver Forester, to the shop to “get a sticker” as we say here in Maine.  Except, Argent did not get a sticker this year, and the reason is two words: Salt Rot, which has eaten through the underside of the chassis and perhaps the gas tank itself.  Steve will be taking Argent for a second opinion next week, but right now it’s looking like Argent’s days are numbered, indeed.

Yesterday, we went down south to look at houses.  Six houses, three-and-a-half hours.  I was Completely Exhausted by the end of it, and in awe of our real estate agent’s patience and fortitude.  Also, we did not find our dream house.

We did come home to find money in the mail:  royalty checks from our essay in Dragonwriter:  A Tribute to Anne McCaffrey and Pern. My half will cover the purchase of a new corn broom; Steve says he’s using his to buy a lobster dinner.

I may have been remiss in mentioning that the galleys for A Liaden Universe® Constellation, Volume 3 arrived on Friday.  I proofed the first story this morning.

Tomorrow morning, Chapter Two of Shan and Priscilla Ride Again will be posted to Splinter Universe.  If you haven’t been following along, two outtake chapters, the prologue, and Chapter One, are all awaiting you.  You can start here.

If you haven’t seen this posted elsewhere:  Cheyenne Wright is the colorist for Girl Genius since Volume Five, and his work really brings the art to life.  Cheyenne and his family have also been mired in the Compleat Stupidity that has been 2015 thus far, and he is reaching out for help. If you’re so motivated, and you’re able, please do what you can.  Here’s the link.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment with the radiology department of my local hospital, so I may be somewhat scarce.

Work is still going forth on Alliance of Equals.

. . .and that catches us all up.

Except for Trooper.

Here, have a picture of Trooper.

Isn't he elegant?
