Alliance of Equals will be released from Baen as a mass market paperback on August 29.

Lee and Miller will see short story “Dawn’s Early Light,” published in All Hail Our Robot Conquerors, from Zombies Need Brains LLC, in August. “Dawn…” is a new story.

Baen has commissioned a short story in support of Neogenesis, to be published to Baen.com in mid-December.

Neogenesis, formerly Fourth of Five, will be published as a hardcover and as an ebook on January 2, 2018. We assume that there will be an audio edition, but we have not heard that this is so. Those who indulge in eArcs should start cruising the Baen website in early November.

Original Lee and Miller story, “Excerpts from Two Lives,” will be published in the Baen anthology Ship of the Line, to be published in 2018.

It is a fact little realized that Agent of Change, the very first Liaden novel written, was published as a Paperback Original by Del Rey Books in 1988. It was followed, latter in 1988, and in late 1989 by Conflict of Honors and Carpe Diem, also Paperback Originals.

This is important for a couple of reasons.

First! Publication in 1988 means that! in 2018, the Liaden Universe® will be 30 years old.

Second! In all that time, and through all the various shufflings and republishings of the various Liaden novels the first three have never been published as single hardcovers.

Third! Baen will be celebrating Thirty Years of Liad starting with a hardcover reprinting — the very first hardcover printing! — of Agent of Change in the spring of 2018, with Conflict and Carpe to follow.

Publication Date for Alliance of Equals
The Question that Ate October, here at our email boxes and around the web, is: When will the next Liaden novel come out? Can I get an eArc? Sample chapters? Something?

The Answer to this question is: Alliance of Equals, the nineteenth novel-length adventure in the Liaden Universe®, aka “the book after Dragon in Exile” is scheduled to be released in hardcover on July 5, 2016.

And, in an attempt to forestall the Inevitable: Baen makes the eArc editions of novels, if any, available somewhere between two to three months ahead of the hardcover publication. So, you’re looking. . .April/May 2016 for the Alliance of Equals eArc.

Mass Market Edition of Dragon in Exile
Baen will be releasing the paperback edition of Dragon in Exile, which was published in hardcover on June 2, 2015, in June, 2016.

The Gathering Edge
The Gathering Edge is the title of the Liaden Universe® novel that comes after Alliance of Equals. Sharon and Steve are in the process of writing this novel even now. It is due on our publisher’s desk on February 15, 2016. We do not (that’s DO NOT) have a publication date for this title.

Trivia Isn’t Trivial
Sharon and Steve are working in a universe more than a couple million words old, and strive for consistency. At precisely 7:54 pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015, Sharon Lee and Steve Miller turned ALLIANCE OF EQUALS, the 19th novel of the Liaden Universe(R), in to Toni Weisskopf at Baen. The publication date has not yet been set. The next Liaden Universe(R) novel, tentatively titled THE GATHERING EDGE, is scheduled to be turned in (not published; turned in) on February 15, 2016.
