Saturday. Cloudy, not as cold, but it ain’t summer.
Breakfast was hummus, naan, and grapes. Yes, I’m eating a lot of hummus, but it’s So. Good.
Lunch will be fish on an onion roll with cheese.
Wrote a little this morning, did my duty the cats, PT homework Session I, took a walk. After lunch? More writing!
Oh, you know the thing, that gay people were invented by the libs sometime during the past 20 years, and the other one, that songs and stories never had a “liberal agenda” until, I dunno, last Wednesday?
Well. Here I was, minding my own business, listening to 60s Gold, and on comes that fun-time dance song, “Twistin’ the Night Away,” by Sam Cooke, in which we celebrate the peaceful coming together of All Peoples at the Sugar Shack before the B52s got their residency — in order to do the twist, and I’m singing along, as one does, and grinning at the man in the evening clothes, and how he got here, I don’t know, and then I hear this come out of my mouth:
Here’s a fella in blue jeans
Dancin’ with an older queen

About 1800 words written today, bringing the WIP to +/-102,700. Tomorrow, I write again.
So, on the idea of The Author Reads Her Own Works in 2026 — a Question for the Group Mind: How many of you would like to do a Read Along? I can dust off Splinter Universe and we can carry on as a group over there if there’s enough interest.
Please let me know in comments if this is something you’d like to be part of.
Deets: I’m planning to start in January, and I’m planning to read the novels only, and in Publication Order*. I have my reasons for doing it this way, and if you don’t agree, that’s fine; don’t take part.
All that said, everybody have a good evening. Stay safe. I’ll look in tomorrow.
___________
*Publication Order = Agent of Change, Conflict of Honors, Carpe Diem, Plan B, Local Custom, Scout’s Progress, I Dare, Balance of Trade, Crystal Soldier, Crystal Dragon, Fledgling, Saltation, Mouse and Dragon, Ghost Ship, Dragon Ship, Necessity’s Child, Trade Secret, Dragon in Exile, Alliance of Equals, The Gathering Edge, Neogenesis, Accepting the Lance, Trader’s Leap, Fair Trade, Salvage Right, Ribbon Dance, Diviner’s Bow
I would love to read along! I wonder if I will be able keep up with you but I can give it a good go.
I’d be interested in doing a read along. I reread the Laiden Universe every year to help get me through the winter months. It’d be nice to do that with others.
Love the idea of a read along!
Also, I would love to reread The Tomorrow Log.
Maybe rereading could lead to more storytelling about Jen?
Oo, yes! Count me IN! I’m missing my copy of Fledgeling, I think, but it’s high time I replaced it.
Although I’m normally a chronological reader, I would be interested in participating. I might only be able to read everyone else’s comments, since my reading speed has become dreadfully slow. On the other hand, having been forced into retirement, I suppose I have more time each day that I could devote to reading, so there is that!
I would love a read-along! I finished a chronological reread last year, as I’d never read the books as one big story. I discovered the series through a (I believe, free Kindle) copy of Fledgling in 2013. I couldn’t believe I’d missed these!! I began acquiring them however I could, so I originally read them in acquisition order. LOL But I’ve never done a publication order read-through. And I reread books all the time, so yeah, I’d love a read-along!
Count me in on the read-along as well. I do re-read the Liaden books from time to time, but I haven’t read Crystal Soldier or Crystal Dragon in several years
I too would like to read along. I found your books with Fledgling and then read everything I could and own them all so will be able to read in publication order.
Another regular re-reader here, and I’d love to do it in company, so please count me in as well.
I just finished a reread of Salvage Right on audio last month. One of my favs. Love to do a read along. It’s been many years since I’ve read Agent of Change-lately I tend to jump into a run of books with Fledgling. Or jump back to Crystal Soldier. I bought Diviner’s Bow and Ribbon Dance but haven’t read them yet. They are waiting for when I need them.
I would also like to reread the Liaden books, and I prefer publication order, so that’s great. Like others, I wonder if I can keep up, but I can at least try! (Life certainly gets in the way of my reading plans at times, but books are my solace.)
