Tali wants everybody to know that I was properly supervised this morning as I wrote:
Tuesday. I have new glasses. Except for a change in color — the old glasses were blue, these are a silvery pink — they look pretty much the same. Titanium frames. The prescription pulls the right eye into line, as it continues its descent back into nearsightedness.
Regarding the read-along — thanks to everyone who chimed in to say that their idea of reading along matched mine, and we will hope that those who were afraid they’d miss something unless recorded due to their work schedules and whatnot are now relieved to know that we’re text-based, and they can check in whenever they have time.
So! People of the Read-Along, I ask your input. Do you prefer order or chaos? Which is to say, shall we commit to reading, eh, 50 pages a week, and look for an update on Monday afternoon? Or do you prefer that I just comment as I go along, and you’ll catch up with me?
Please state your preference in comments.

I would prefer that you comment as you go along and I will sync up with you.
I tend to read them in one or two sittings.
Semi-chaotic? Post whenever you’d like, but I’d like some kind of warning about when you’re going to start the next book.
I’m happy either way, but as its a read along, and I’ve read everything previously, I slightly prefer the “Keep up” plan, as I don’t expect spoilers 🙂
I’m happy to catch up with you.
For the read-along, since there are 27 books to be read during 2026, I imagine you’ll be going much more quickly than 50 pages a week. Why not just comment as you go along, and we’ll either follow or get ahead (or both at various times), depending on our reading speed and available time. (I had no thought of you reading aloud for the participants; it seems odd to me that anyone would expect it!)
Titanium frames are wonderfully light and quite sturdy, and some places (for example, Lenscrafters) don’t stock them any more. May I ask where you found yours? I should get a new pair, and need to find a place to get them. I realize that it wouldn’t be practical for me to travel to Maine, but getting an idea of what sort of place stocks them nowadays may help me to get moving on an overdue acquisition. Thanks.
I’m down for chaos! I used to hate being constrained to a specific reading schedule in school; no one ever read as quickly or as much as I did. That said, I will bow to the Hive Mind, and join in where and how I can. I’m still navigating being a working girl again, so do what you will and I will be there.
I vote for letting you set the pace and comment as you go along. You are doing this to accomplish a specific goal and I (for one) am merely following along for pleasure.
I recommend free styling it. 50 pages might be great, but what if we are in the middle of a key scene? Let’s play follow the leader! You are currently THE expert on all things Korval.
Thank you for hours of joy!
Eye Care of Maine is my optometrist and their in-practice store is where I got both of my titanium frames.
I also vote for chaos! Even though I generally prefer order and rules, reading is its own separate thing that cannot be contained by any rules. (Or so my experience in my book clubs shows me.)
Might we request a picture of the new glasses (with you in them) please?
You may request, and if I can figure out a way to do it, I may. They really AREN’T much different from the previous glasses.
