  1. Sharon, Have you ever heard of Feldenkrais – it is a movement method – not an exercise method – for learning how to use what you have better. Slowly. thoughtfully. One of the principles is, if it hurts, don’t do it. Maybe imagine it, in as much detail as you can. I don’t remember where in Maine you live, but there are only a few teachers for in vivo classes, but there are many lessons on line, and you listen to the instructor and do what you think they are suggesting, gently, slowly, carefully.
    Ask if your physical therapist has heard of it and what s/he thinks.
    I can send you links if you are interested. Backs, knees, necks are the most common lessons but you move all of you so you learn how to do things differently. In the interests of avoiding [often useless] surgery.

  2. I have been doing Feldenkrais physiotherapy exercise classes for years now, and it does really help.
