Please Please read at least the first of the BORROWERS by Mary Norton. There are 5 of them, and all delightfully illustrated. I realize that they are supposed to be ‘young adult’ fiction but I tell you, they are just wonderful. I would love there to be at least one mentioned in your list of books read this year!
Er, didn’t I read The Borrowers ‘way back around the time I was reading Stuart Little, and Charlotte’s Web, and Dr. Doolittle? Pretty sure so. . .
Yes, me too. But I’ve re-read them over the years – and found a new one published around 1985. At any rate, I just re-read them all and they are still delightful. As is Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web!
