Ah… A Little Princess is one of my all-time favorites, read multiple times in the last 40+ year. Seeing that book on your list is like seeing an old friend!
If you haven’t read Kerry Greenwood’s Phryne Fisher series, I highly recommend them as well. Well-researched detective stories set in Great Depression Melbourne. Start with Cocaine Blues. If you like those, I discovered recently that they are also an Australian TV show now, but I haven’t managed to watch it yet.
I read the first three Phryne Fisher books a couple years ago, when a friend sent me the omnibus. I enjoyed them, but don’t feel compelled to pursue others.
